1: Implementation Plan
For this task, you will be utilizing an AHRQ worksheet and tool that were created to be used in tandem. The purpose of the worksheet is to aid you in breaking down the scope of your project into manageable units of work whose outcome comprises a task or deliverable. The AHRQ Implementation Measurements tool will assist you in defining a means of measurement within your plan.

Following the guidelines stipulated in the measurements tool, devise a means/tool for measuring the success of your project intervention. This is for the entire project.
Each best practice that you have identified on the Implementation Plan Worksheet will also need to have a defined means of measuring its success.
Summarize what each best practice implementation consists of and how you will measure it.
Note: For additional support, you might consider utilizing the IHI Improvement Tracker(https://app.ihi.org/Workspace/tracker/), which has measures already set up on numerous topics. Or, you have the option of creating your custom measures. The Improvement Tracker automatically graphs your data and lets you create reports.
Now that you have defined your project best practice tasks/deliverables, you will need to create a timetable for completing them.
Create the work breakdown structure (WBS) for your project by following the instructions on page 94 of Project Management for the Advanced Practice Nurse. See Figure 4.2 for an example of how to structure it. (attached to this)
Create a Gantt chart for your project. Include best practice tasks/deliverables on the chart as well as all project activities from development to implementation and evaluation. There are numerous Gantt chart templates available for free online, including a free Gantt Chart Template from Vertex42® that is easy to use.

2: Cost-Benefit Analysis
Read this week’s selected articles on cost-benefit analysis in the University Library.
Conduct a cost-benefit analysis for your project.
Develop a budget for your project. The budget will vary depending on the nature of your project. Start with the individual tasks/deliverables that you identified in your implementation plan and break them down in terms of cost (labor, materials, facilities, services, and overhead are all costs). The sum of all tasks in your implementation plan constitutes the total budget of your project.
Consider the potential benefits and savings that may result from your project implementation. There may be tangible and non-tangible benefits. Consider quality of life, reduced health care expenses, impact on population health and considerations of DEI, increased reimbursement, staff morale, institution liability, etc.
Create a table with a corresponding explanation to depict your project budget and potential benefits and savings to demonstrate a cost/benefit ratio analysis. See the example of how to do this on a table.
Task 3: Practicum Proposal Template
Complete the following sections of the template:
- Implementation Plan
- Timeline and Schedule
- Budget
Add the following as appendices in the template:
- Workflow Process Diagrams (as Appendix D)
- Gap Analysis Tool (as Appendix E)
- SMART Objectives (as Appendix F)
- Project Charter Template (as Appendix G)
- Project Scope Statement (as Appendix H)
Assignment Deliverable
Your assignment deliverable will consist of the following components:
- Completed Implementation Plan Worksheet
- Summary of each best practice and how it will be measured
- Tool developed for measuring the success of project intervention
- Gantt chart
- Work breakdown structure
- Table depicting the budget and demonstrating a cost/benefit ratio analysis
- Practicum Proposal Template
