Social Justice Issue Paper

Each student will research and write a paper on a social justice issue, comparing the Roman Catholic
religion and a religion of your choosing. The religion of your choosing should be selected from those that
will be studied during this course. If you choose to do Christianity, select a particular Christian branch:
Eastern (Greek) Orthodox or Protestant. If you choose Protestantism, select a specific denomination (for
example, Baptist or Lutheran) and not Protestantism in general. If you would like to choose a religion that is
not on the list, please contact the instructor to discuss this situation.

The social justice issue is up to you. A list of current social justice issues can be found on the Brightspace
web site. If you would like to choose a social justice issue that is not on the list, please contact the
instructor to discuss this situation.

1. Introduction

In the “Introduction,” please concisely state what two religious views and the social justice issue you
will be researching.

2. Data Collection

In the “Data Collection” section, please describe the major findings from your observations. Your findings
should include answers to the following questions:

brief history of the issue (including a timeline of the recent history of the issue)

statement of basic information about each of the two religious views, especially regarding the social
justice issue

discussion of the two religious views including an explanation of similarities and differences concerning
the social justice issue

legal and/or religious documents as well as opinions of relevant religious authorities within the social
justice issue

Please note that you are not limited to only answering these questions in your essay! Feel free to
add other important and relevant findings.

3. Conclusion

What were the results of your investigation? You should provide a very brief summary of the questions
above. If a solution is plausible, how would you resolve the social justice issue resulting from the two
different religious views? The solution must be practical, probable, and realistic. What are your thoughts on
the social justice issue?

4. References

This is the section where you carefully say where the reader can find the information you used. You must
use proper bibliography format. You must have at least five sources (and Wikipedia is not a source!). The
area college libraries (Mount Mercy University, Kirkwood Community College, Coe College, University of
Iowa, etc.) may be very useful. You may also want to use EBSCO (a journal search engine you can find on
most college library web sites). Any article found on EBSCO is useful. If you use the internet, please be
cautious about the truthfulness of a web site. If possible, use web sites of the actual religion and not a
person’s personal web site.

NOTE #1: This is a research paper. As such, you must use some type of citation when you quote
(directly or indirectly) from a source. You can use whatever type and style of citation you are
comfortable with using (intext, footnotes, etc.).

NOTE #2: Due to the number of variables in this paper, there is no minimum or maximum page
length.

i will attach the 5 articles i have found but you can add more of your own as well.
please no plagarism and i need a plagrism report.
