1500 word management guide and annotated bibliography My selected issue is innovative disruption but how Airbnb have disrupted the accommodation sector

The assignment will take the form of a management guide (to a selected contemporary issue) for professional use by industry practitioners.

2) Following their presentations/ debate students will prepare a 1500 word briefing paper on their selected contemporary issue. The briefing paper should be written as a management guide and will present the salient points related to the issue as discussed both in the debate and arising from extensive research.
3) The assessment paper must be written in a style that is appropriate for use by industry professionals and should take the form of a management guide that can be used to inform and guide professional practice. You should take account of UK/ NI legislation as well as relevant international conventions and protocols as they relate to your selected issue. Please see section 6 below for a full list of contents and format.
4) In addition to the management guide students are also required to submit an annotated bibliography which draws together all of the resources consulted throughout the semester in relation to the identified contemporary issue. Together with a comprehensive list of all sources consulted, students should identify their six most useful sources and provide a 100 word annotation of each of the six sources. A separate link will be set up on BBL for you to submit the bibliography – do not append it to coursework 2. Full instructions will be provided in seminar sessions. Do not exceed 100 words for any individual annotation.
5) This element of coursework accounts for 40% of the overall assessment. Students should refer to the marking criteria attached to provide them with fuller details of marking criteria for each classification band. Details of the assessment brief and the assessment criteria will be addressed in week 2 and week 10 with a further opportunity for Q&A in week 12.
6) Management Guide Contents and Presentation
The course work must be word-processed (Arial 12 is recommended but if you are using software other than Word to present your guide then please consult the module leader for further advice). The work should be an informative, visually appealing, industry relevant management guide. Example of management guides will be discussed in seminar sessions. The guide must include each of the following:
1) An introduction to the contemporary issue
2) At least one authoritative definition of what the contemporary issue encompasses
3) Key facts and up to date figures related to the issue and therefore its importance
4) One informative infographic using Canva or similar software to illustrate selected key facts in relation to the selected issue. (Think of this as a visual that could be used by a departmental manger to inform or train hospitality staff about the issue)
5) At least two visual images (copyright free). You must identity the source of visual images as a footnote – see related bullet point 13 below
6) The business implications/significance
7) Legal dimensions
8) Specific advice to business community
9) Conclusion
10) * 6 Useful and relevant follow up links/ further resources. (Please present the links in a business friendly style – hyperlinks.)
11) *Author – a brief note about the author, background, interest and experience
12) *Disclaimer
13) *Do not include a reference list at the end of your management guide. If you are citing a definition, identifying the original sources of images used or referring to research throughout your guide then use a footnote to identify the source and follow the standard bibliographic format in the University Guide to Harvard Referencing,
Footnotes allow you to present referencing information unobtrusively at the bottom of each page.
