write a rhetorical analysis draft for the media you chose with at least two citations from the work itself or an additional source.

When to complete: This assignment should be completed after reading the Common Read for the course—Barracoon, The Story of the Last Black Cargo by Zora Neale Hurston—as well as the podcasts, assigned readings, and Instructor Discourse lectures.

How to complete: In your own words and through rhetorical reading, analyze a classmate’s review of Barracoon with the concepts of the rhetorical triangle and rhetorical appeals.

First, read and analyze Barracoon and all associated readings/listening materials. Also, read, watch, or listen to a classmate’s review from Discussion #2: The Reviews

Next, think about how the work demonstrates rhetorical appeals, uses rhetorical strategies or devices, and the overall effect and/or success of the classmate’s review you have read.

You can also use the Foreword, the Introduction, Chapter 1, the reading from Mixed Magic Theatre on YouTube, or your other classmates’ reviews as sources to cite, compare and contrast, or any other way to analyze.

In addition, you can add your own suggestions to how you would have (in the writer’s seat) increased pathos, ethos, or logos.

Then, write a rhetorical analysis draft for the media you chose with at least two citations from the work itself or an additional source.

This will be a full paper with an introduction, supporting paragraphs, and a conclusion.
