Submit at least a two-page report (single-spaced, 11-pt or 12-pt, Calibri or Times New Roman font) as a Microsoft Word or PDF document, with tables and graphs embedded.

Introduction

Instructions: Use
complete sentences to describe the purpose(s) of your statistical inquiry. Identify
the original data source. Identify and describe the population for which
conclusions will be drawn. The last sentence should express one or two major
findings of your inquiry.

Methods

Instructions: Use
complete sentences to describe the general type of study: observation or
experiment, and also include the specific type. Explain clearly how source data
were collected and subsequently what type and size of sample data was provided
to you.
Name and describe each variable that will be summarized in the
Findings section. Classify and justify whether each variable is a qualitative variable
or a quantitative variable.

Findings

Instructions: Introduce
each variable summary listed below with a brief, descriptive sentence.
Clearly
summarize and label each variable. Insert/embed tables and graphs copied from
StatCrunch or other software (do not paste photos/screenshots). Make
graphs large enough to be readable. Cite your software source in the References
section. Conclude each variable summary with a contextual interpretation using
a complete sentence(s).

       I.
Numerical summaries of variables: MARITAL, CHILDS,
HEALTH, and TOTALINCENTIVE

a.
For each quantitative variable, provide in a
readable format:

i.
the
mean, the standard deviation, and the 5-number summary

ii.
comment(s)
on what the relationship between mean and median conveys

b.
For each qualitative variable, provide in a
readable format:

i.
a
relative frequency distribution

ii.
comment(s)
on the most and least frequent responses.

      II.
Graphical summaries: Include summary comments
about each distribution and what it conveys.

a.
Provide a frequency histogram for: CHILDS

i.
The
bins for the histogram should be centered on the integers. To do this, start
the bins at -0.5 with a width of 1.

b.
Provide a relative frequency bar chart for
variable: WRKSTAT

    III.
Comparative summary: Provide a five-number
summary of the variable EDUC across the different levels of the variable:
SATFIN. Include one or more summary comments about what each level conveys.

Next

·
Explore the trend of the variable TOTALINCENTIVE
across the variable SEXNOW1 by constructing a boxplot of TOTALINCENTIVE for
each level of SEXNOW1. Place all boxplots on a single graph.

·
Explore the trend of the variable TOTALINCENTIVE
across the variable HAPPY by constructing a boxplot of TOTALINCENTIVE for each
level of HAPPY. Place all boxplots on a single graph.

·
Compare the shape, center, spread, and outliers
for each boxplot.

Social Impact

Instructions: Use complete sentences to elaborate
on the social trends of all variable summaries with specificity. Interpret social
impact with respect to how those summaries convey information about the identified
population. If comparing to historical data, cite sources in the Reference
section.

Conclusion

Instructions: Briefly address
the overall meaningfulness of the statistical inquiry using complete sentences.
Focus on inferences made about the identified population and how the inquiry
could be used in a community. You may use the General Social Survey and/or
other studies as a source.
