- Use proper writing mechanics reviewed in the course learning material.
- Use proper quote integration and in-text citations as discussed in the course learning material.
- Use logical evidence from the primary source, citing the source in the essay and on the works cited page, using MLA 9 format.
Prompt: What is one theme of your selected short story? How is it portrayed in the text? Use specific examples from the story and thorough analysis in your own words to make your claim.

Grading Criteria
- Essay logic and focus (ideas that answer the prompt)
- Essay organization (introduction, body, conlcusion paragraphs)
- Integration of evidence (quotes used in sentences)
- Writing Mechanics (grammar and punctuation)
- Formatting of MLA (citations, works cited, and page formatting)
- Length Requirement: 1000 words, not counting the works cited page. More than 200 words over or under the word count will be penalized for lack of editing.
