This weeks discussion is what i see to be kind of a big one in the health care system. To improve in this area of the health care system I believe we first would need to hire more people who speak more that just English. An easy way to do this would be to hire and more ethnic people so that they would be able to help out. I get that this maybe a little hard because for example what if not that many people are looking for this kind of work? I also understand that not all people speak more than one language or even want to learn. This is easier said than done. I would be very helpful because there are so many times that I go to a doctors office and see the elderly struggle with this because there is no one there that is able to translate for them. When this happens nothing is done in a timely manner as well.
Another way that can help benefit is to provide more training on cultural awareness. By providing this kind of training it will help people be a little aware of what a minority person is going through when they come into the doctors office. It will also help enhance there interpersonal skills with everyone. So even though the doctor, nure or whoever will be helping these elderly people they will have a just a little more compassion for people.
