My Topic: Slavery and the Institutions of Slavery in the Speeches and Writings
of Frederick Douglass.

YOUR INFO: My proposed
theses for the topic are:
1. Douglass, who was a slave himself, drew upon his
experiences to write his first autobiography: Narrative of the Life of
Frederick Douglass, An American Slave, Written by Himself (1845).
2. Douglas worked with other abolitionists of his time to
create the emotional climate on how to end slavery.
3. After his escape, Douglass was subjected to prejudice
in the North which prompted him to write his second autobiography: My Bondage
and My Freedom.
4. Having witnessed the cruelty of slavery, Douglass used
his speeches and newspaper to call attention to the plights of enslaved blacks
in the United States.

1. Research paper: should be 1500
words at a minimum (4-6 pages)

Roman font
3. At least 1 primary source,
and 4-6 secondary sources.
4. To support your thesis, throughout the
paper, you should use quotes from your primary text(s) and quotes or
paraphrases from your research material.
5. You should also analyze rather than
summarize the materials.
6. The paper should be organized with a
clear introduction, body, and conclusion, which recaps your main ideas.
7. No quotations of more than 3 lines
and no more than 2 quotations on a page.

or plagiarism.
