What are the Position Requirements:

  • A Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with a major in physics or related physics subfield OR 18 graduate semester hours in physics or a related physics subfield and a master’s degree.
  • This position will require face-to-face, mixed-mode and online teaching modalities.
  • The candidate selected will teach a combination of AST 1002, PHY 2053C/2054C, PHY 2048C/2049C, PHY 1020 and/or PHY 1007C.
  • Teaching assignments will be primarily at Osceola Campus with occasional teaching assignments at Poinciana campus.
  • Contract Workload:
    • (6) 3-contact hour classes per term (fall/spring) or equivalent.
    • 12 student engagement hours and 5 hours supporting student learning per week for a minimum 35 hour work week. The length of contract is in accordance with the academic calendar.
  • Please note that you will need to establish Florida residency within 30 days from your start date if selected for this position.

Salary Information:

Salary is determined based on related work experience and degree level. salary range by degree level listed below:

8 month annually appointed

Master’s: $41,843 to $55,475
Master’s +30: $45,190 to $59,914
Doctorate: $46,864 to $62,132

Working Conditions

General Working Conditions
This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. The employee will routinely operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, keyboards, mouse, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.

Typical physical competencies include but are not limited to frequently remaining stationary, moving, reaching, positioning self and occasionally ascending/descending, lifting/moving objects weighing between 5-15 pounds. This job also entails frequently communicating, discerning and exchanging information, detecting and perceiving objects up close, at a distance, and the ability to adjust focus. Cognitive abilities include but are not limited to frequently using discretion, judgment, reasoning, memory, learning, maintaining confidentiality, comprehension, problem solving, and decision-making.
