Using Soss and Weaver as your primary resource, write a persuasive essay that addresses the connection between race, class and policing.
Your paper should address this prompt: In what ways do the challenges of race-class subjugated communities and circumstances of police violence contribute to racial inequality in America?
Just like the first paper, this essay should should demonstrate a comprehensive understanding not just of the Soss and Weaver article, but an understanding of the rest of the course readings from Week 4 through Week 7.
Additionally, your paper should include at least 2 other authors (in addition to Soss and Weaver) that we talked about in class as well as one outside source. The outside source can be from a video we watched in class or from another reputable publications. This means the paper should have 3 course related sources and 1 outside source.
In order to get an “A” on your essay, the paper should: analyze arguments across readings to support a single, central thesis/argument; thesis statements must be creative and clearly stated at the beginning of the paper, and draws/make connections between two or more phenomena; it must be organized logically with: an introduction which clearly states the thesis and outlines what the paper is addressing; body paragraphs that support the thesis statement; and a conclusion that summarizes the discussion and considers the implications of the argument.
The paper should be 5–7 pages, double spaced, and must engage with material from the relevant section. All writing assignments must be 12–point font with 1–inch margins and use proper citation format and style.
