Students will watch a film in class on a community in crisis with a view of preparing
for the ultimate job interview. Based on what was learned in the film, each student
will develop a written proposal that includes an analysis brief on the current crisis
and a proposed plan of action if chosen as the new social service center director. The
new community social service center has already garnered significant funding from a
prominent American philanthropist.
The proposal itself should be (at least) three to five full pages in length, with an
additional cover sheet (include the name you would name the community center if
chosen as the director), plus a one-page resume addendum.
The proposal package must be submitted to the instructor. Mock interviews for the
position of director of the new community social service agency will be completed in
small groups with a guest social worker from the community.
