Reminder: Although we skipped the experimental assignment, you are welcome to experiment with form and style in this creative assignment. For example, if you wanted to add photographs or graphic novel strips (in the manner of The Talk by Darrin Bell),or write an essay in the form of a “list” (like the first page of Christina Sharpe’s “Ordinary Notes”) you are also welcome to do that. Remember what Frances said in class this week: we want to read about a character interacting with their environment through action and reaction. The more specific your descriptions, and the more concrete and sensory, the more immersed the reader will be in what you’ve written.
Write about the worst job you’ve ever had. (Reference Minda Honey’s piece for a great example of this). What did it teach you about yourself, and/or the world?
