The Format
Be sure to use Toulmin’s model:
Claim – Make an assertion about the theory in your own words.
Grounds – Explain a specific communication example from your life, focus on the verbal & nonverbal communication that actually occurred.
Warrant – So what? How does this uphold the theory? How did this realization impact your communication?
The Prompts
Compare and contrast effective and appropriate communication, giving examples of each from your own life experience. (page 26)
The Response
Next, respond to a classmate. If you are the first to post on any discussion post you can reply to yourself with a statement “I am the first to respond.”
