Research Paper on interest group the NRA; why Representative John Thune of South Dakota supports NRA; pro 2nd Amendment – Federal Government

Below, I’ve included my introduction paragraph, outline for my research paper, and the guidelines/rubric for my research paper from my syllabus. My professor is making us do this research paper in parts. I need the body of my research paper and conclusion with in-text citations and a works cited page. I want a minimum of 6 MLA citations. My paper is about the NRA and why representative John Thune supports the NRA, and I want my paper to be pro-guns, pro 2nd Amendment.  I will also need a bibliography. I want my research paper to be a minimum of 10 pages, not including the works cited page and bibliography. You must include MLA headers. While you’re at it, please include a conclusion paragraph that includes whether voters will come out to vote in the next election regarding this interest group/topic etc. Do not use Wikipedia as a source.

Here’s the instructions for the body of the research paper:

Representative’s connection to the issue with MLA citations

Section 3 of your research paper is four to five full paragraphs with in-text citations and the works cited page included.

You will receive up to 10 points if this is done correctly.

If you received less than 10 points, you must make all corrections I gave you by the date indicated.

Once the corrected section is submitted, I will grade it for a possible full 10 points.

In this part of the paper, you must have at least 5 MLA citations as a minimum. 2 points are deducted for every citation less than 5.

For example, if you only have two citations and they are not correct, you lose all 10 points. If they are correct, you lose 6 points.

Please use the citation maker in this module to be sure your citations are correctly formatted. Please do not simply write what you feel. You will not receive credit for this paper if you do not have data and MLA citations.

Failure to submit this section of the research paper results in closing the entire assignment and only receiving the points that have been earned to date, if any.

In these paragraphs, you will write about if your representative promotes the cause of the interest group. Perhaps the representative received millions of dollars. If that is the case, then the interest group will expect much from the lawmaker in the way of laws or tax benefits that work to the advantage of the interest group. Or, the lawmaker received very little from the interest group and the representative does not sponsor or write bills in the interest group’s favor.

Further, you will need to defend your thesis with MLA citations. Use the interest group and representative websites, quotations and/or comments made by the interest group and the representative to support your position. You will need to find supporting documentation on how important your issue is from independent sources. This means going to research institutes and data bases.

I have provided many data websites in your resources. Please go to those sources as a starting point.

In my example, the National Retail Federation only gave NY Senator Chuck Schumer $5,000. That is not a substantial donation by any means. It costs millions to run for senator. Based on Schumer’s website it is clear he has not sponsored bills related to retail.

In your paper, you may very well find that the larger the donation, the closer the relationship is between the group and the representative. In most cases, interest groups actually write the laws for our lawmakers because the lobbyist representing the interest group is often a lawyer specializing in that area of law. You will explain this in at least three full paragraphs of eight sentences in each paragraph.

You will need to find the connection between your group, the representative, and the issue and, using MLA citations, explain this to the reader. You will have quotations and data to support your position. This section of the paper has details and data to substantiate.

Needless to say, no Wikipedia has ever been used in an academic research paper. Academic citations are found in a library database.

MY RESEARCH PAPER INTRODUCTION PARAGRAPH:

  • It was not until 1977 that the N.R.A. took to the streets and fought for the Second Amendment, as they have been doing for years. The organization, established in 1871 by Union veterans Col. William C. Church and Gen. George Wingate 11 years after the Civil War ended, is the oldest civil rights organization. The National Rifle Association is of more importance than any other civil organization in the American discourse by far because America has had a gun culture from the country’s founding. Ever since it was established, the National Rifle Association has not only taken the skill of riflery to the next scientific level; it has not for no reason swayed away from its agenda on account of the significance it holds in its title, the fact to the matter is that the National Rifle Association currently has grown past a single or even a bifold institution to a multifunctional institution that helps teach, operate the defense of firearms, and represents its members and their causes. The N.R.A. Foundation is the country’s leading charitable organization supporting shooting sports, having awarded thousands of grants supporting educational programs since its inception in 1990. The N.R.A. Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization that raises money to fund a wide range of firearm-related public interest activities in the United States. The N.R.A. Foundation’s funding efforts are specifically tailored to the needs of communities across the U.S. and involve a vast range of firearm educational programs and activities. The Foundation not only caters to programs that serve the country’s needs to ensure responsible use of their Second Amendment rights but also to introduce a new culture that includes individual liberties. The N.R.A. is a key player in our political system today. It supports the 2nd amendment and the right to bear arms. The Second Amendment is a very important issue to US representatives because it helps us be protected by being able to own guns, which many US representatives are for the N.R.A. and the 2nd Amendment. Ultimately, more US representatives must support the N.R.A. and the 2nd Amendment because if they do, they would be helping to preserve the gun rights of the US and US residents. The N.R.A. and the 2nd amendment are always at the top of the list when Americans are asked which rights they value the most.
