Directions for Preparing Your Speech:
1. Choose your topic – Ich Ben Ein Berliner
2. Research – you are expected to have at least four source citations and a works cited page to be
turned in with your outline. For this assignment, web sites and reference books (e.g. an
encyclopedia) are accepted sources. Don’t forget the readings that we’ve used in class as well
when doing your research.
3. Organize your speech into two main areas. This can be done in a variety of ways but must
demonstrate appropriate application of at least two Aristotelian concepts. For example, I might
make my first area about the audience and use Black and Aristotle to determine the available
means of persuasion / appropriate topoi. The second area might then look at ethos, pathos, and
logos to determine success of the speech.

for your use during the speech.
