Designing a Translational Research Study- INCREASING HEALTHY FOOD CONSUMPTION USING MATCHING LAW

Overview

In the Week 5 assignment, you created a brochure that discussed a specific behavior to increase, the current applied literature that used a specific behavior analytic theory to inform interventions to change that behavior, and the ethical considerations of intervention. For this week’s assignment, you will be using the information from our previous assignments to create your own translational study proposal.

WEEK 5 ASSIGNMENT IS ATTACHED, BASED ON MATCHING LAW THEORY (its missed labled as week 6 assignment attached)

Instructions

In this assignment, you will devise a translational research study proposal using the Week 7 Translational Research Design Template [DOCX]. Your research proposal should include the following components:

  1. Literature review: Summarize the existing literature related to your research topic including the both the EAB and applied literature citing specific gaps and how the specified theory can inform interventions that fill them.
    1. Summarize the existing literature related to your research topic. Provide an overview of relevant theories, concepts, and empirical findings.
    2. Identify the gaps or limitations in the existing literature that your research aims to address.
    3. Justify the need for your proposed research by highlighting how it will fill those gaps or address the limitations identified.
    4. Discuss how the identified theory informs the intervention(s) discussed in the literature.
  2. Introduction to the Research Study.
    1. Research Problem: Clearly state the research problem or question that your study aims to address.
    2. Significance: Explain the significance of your research, including the potential contributions to theory, practice, or policy in behavior analysis.
    3. Research Objectives: Clearly state the specific objectives of your research. What do you aim to achieve through this study? Ensure that your objectives are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART).
  3. Research Question(s) and Variables.
    1. Research Question(s): Clearly state the research question(s) that will guide your study. Ensure they are aligned directly to the research objectives you discussed in the previous section.
    2. Variables: Operationally define your Independent and Dependent Variables.
  4. Research Methodology.
    1. Describe the research design you will use and explain why it is appropriate for addressing your research questions. Remember that you must use a single subject method for this analysis. Group design, correlational research, or qualitative studies will not be accepted.
    2. Participant and Sampling Methods: Provide information about the target population for your study, including relevant characteristics and sampling methods. Include specific inclusion and exclusion criteria.
    3. Measures, Data Aggregation, and Visual Inspection: Describe the measurement system you will use in the study including the relevant dimension(s) of the dependent variable. Discuss how the data will be collected, how it will be aggregated, and the type of graph you will use to visually inspect the data. Finalize this section with a discussion of how you will evaluate the validity and reliability of the data.
  5. Implementation Guidelines: Outline the step-by-step procedures you will follow to conduct your research. This should be a task analysis that a research assistant could use to guide their implementation if you were not there to provide assistance. This can be written as a narrative, but you may find that creating a numerical list would likely be easier.
  6. Ethical Considerations.
    1. Discuss any potential ethical issues associated with your research and how you will address them.
    2. Explain how you will ensure the confidentiality and anonymity of participants, obtain informed consent, and comply with relevant ethical guidelines and regulations.
    3. Make sure to cite specific alignments from The Belmont ReportLinks to an external site., the BACB Ethical Code of Conduct, and the Capella Compassion Code [PDF]

      https://www.hhs.gov/ohrp/regulations-and-policy/belmont-report/index.html

  7. Timeline and Expected Outcomes.
    1. Provide a timeline that outlines the various stages of your research, including data collection, data analysis, and completion of the final report or thesis.
    2. Describe the anticipated outcomes of your research. What do you expect to find based on your research questions or hypotheses?
  8. Limitations: Identify potential limitations or constraints that may affect the validity or generalizability of your findings.

FEED BACK FOR WEEK 5 ASSIGNMENT-

While your effort is appreciated, there are some areas that require further attention and development. One of the fundamental aspects of addressing socially relevant behavior is to accurately define the specific behavior under consideration. In your assignment, the definition of the socially relevant behavior appeared to be inadequate and somewhat ambiguous. It is crucial to clearly articulate and define the behavior in question to provide a strong foundation for the rest of the analysis.

Moreover, your submission lacked a comprehensive description of one or more methods to measure the identified socially relevant behavior. Understanding how to effectively measure such behavior is essential in order to assess its impact and develop appropriate interventions. Including specific and tangible ways to measure the behavior would have strengthened your analysis and demonstrated a deeper understanding of the subject matter.

For the upcoming assignments, I encourage you to dive deeper into elaborating more in-depth on the relevant aspects of the chosen socially relevant behaviors. Additionally, it would be beneficial to explore various methodologies for their measurement. I recommend conducting thorough research and consulting relevant literature to enhance your understanding of this topic. Is it important to include relevant peer-reviewed articles that apply to the assignment

Let’s talk about the definition here – it would make more sense to define this topographically: placing a fruit or vegetable past the plane of the lips, chewing, and swallowing with a clean mouth. A clean mouth is defined as having no remaining bolus larger than a pea.

    SO HERES THE BREAK DOWN

We’re taking the information from the PowerPoint, and week, five
assignment (named week 6), and putting it into this paper and creating a
translational research on increasing food consumption using matching law

MOST OF THE SOURCES HAVE ALREADY BEEN FOUND, THEYRE IN THESE ASSIGNMENTS (the power point and week 5 assignment)

please use the paper titled 12586047-translational_research_studypdf.pdf as
a reference, that paper is increasing hygiene, specifically hand washing, using
    NET.

based on my research from week 5, were increasing healthy food consumption, specifically
healthy food in autistic children, using matching law.

the seminal research is in the PowerPoint, check the speaker notes, it should
    date back to skinner.

this feedback from week 5 assignment, must be addressed/fixed in this
    assignment

so the behavior of increasing must be defined, Operationally and topographically

Variables MUST BE Operationally define Independent and Dependent
