Summary:
Purpose Statement
The purpose of this assignment is for you to create an event management plan, incorporating various aspects and activities from the course.
Instructions
This assignment addresses course outcome(s) CO1, CO2, CO3, CO4, CO5.
One of the major components of KIN 3802: Program and Event Management Course is the creation of a realistic event management planning and
promotions project, which will build on the various information and resources throughout the overall course.
This project will consist of several components, which will be broken down into two main parts: Event Management Project Part I, and Event Management Project Part II. The Event Management Project Part I will serve as your midterm assessment for the course, and Part II will count as the major final assessment in the course. In the Event Management Event Plan Forum, you submitted the host organization, event, and a draft of the event planning section for this project. Use the feedback you received from your peers and/or your instructor to improve your Part I submission.
The Project Scenario
You will be responsible for planning, organizing, staffing, directing, coordinating, executing, and evaluating a realistic one-time event. In the role of “Event Manager” you will create an event management project plan for an event that you are managing. Within this event plan, you will choose both an organization for which are working, and an event of which you will be manager.
For example, consider that you are a youth parks and recreation director in your local city. One of the goals for your organization would be to create more revenue opportunities by hosting a two-day, 12-team baseball tournament at your local sports recreation complex. As the event manager, it is your responsibility to develop the overall planning for this project, including the budget, marketing and sponsorship plan, and overall operation and evaluation plan.
Using real world information and outside research, you will summarize the event plans as an event manager would prior to the event. Managers use this sheet to communicate with all stakeholders associated with the event. Use a team/organization that you are familiar with to be as accurate as possible in your planning. Be sure to revert back to items and concepts you have learned throughout the text and course resources to be as complete as possible in your event plans.
