A annotated bibliography is essentially the same thing as a lit review but you can do either or it’s not hard, same sources you use for this and jus copy paste for the annotated bib!! A literature review is a descriptive summary of research on a topic that has previously been studied. The purpose of a literature review is to inform readers of the significant knowledge and ideas that have been established on a topic. Its purpose is to compare, contrast and/or connect findings that were identified when reviewing researchers’ work. Oftentimes, literature reviews are written to ground a study in a particular context of what is known about a subject in order to establish a foundation for the topic (or question) being researched.
The purpose of this assignment is to facilitate your abilities to research a topic of study so you can learn to (1) identify and formulate an inquiry question that defines what you’d like to learn, (2) apply your knowledge on reading research that you’ve learned in class, (3) analyze information found in educational journal articles, and (4) synthesize new knowledge into a written small-scale literature review.
Assignment Description:
For this assignment you are asked to complete a small-scale literature review on your chosen topic. You are asked to utilize the articles from your annotated bibliography and/or additional educational journal articles on your topic and write a 3-4 page literature review on the articles you’ve selected. Also include a reference page in APA 7th edition formatting.
Steps to complete your small-scale literature review:
Choose an educational topic that you are interested in studying. (This step is already completed)
Formulate an inquiry question that specifically describes what would like to know about your educational topic.
Utilize the articles from your annotated bibliography to construct your literature review. In addition, go to the library or use online tools to search for and locate additional journals that include your topic’s information.
When searching for additional articles, read the abstracts and skim the articles to determine if they correspond well to your topic AND inquiry question.
Incorporate all eight articles from your annotated bibliography into your paper. You are allowed to replace any of the articles in your annotated bibliography in your paper if you find that those articles do not help to substantiate your paper.
Read your articles and begin to sort and classify them according to their findings.
Organize your articles by sorting and classifying their findings in a meaningful way, always considering your original topic and inquiry question.
Write an outline for your small-scale literature review. (Not to be turned in)
Write your review.
Utilize APA 7th edition for in-text citations and references page.
Technical formatting:
1. Cover page
2. Font: Times New Roman, Arial, or Helvetica or a similar typeface
3. Font size: 12 pt (no smaller, no larger)
4. Spacing: Double-space
5. Margins: 1″ all around
6. Include section headings (i.e. introduction, background/significance of the problem, theoretical framework (if applicable), themes, conclusion, etc.)
7. References in APA 7th edition formatting (in-text and in the reference section)
