Have to compare and contrast the works, The Exisitance if God by Saint Thomas Aquinas and The Problem of Evil and soem Varieties of Atheism by William L. Rowe. Once you read the second text, the first part of your essay will consist of comparing and contrasting the two views of the first author and the new author (they could be very similar, completely different, or share some views but not all). Donβt just point out the similarities or differences, but analyze to the best of your ability what these actually are; use your deductive reasoning handouts and the textbook sections from the beginning of the semester as a guide. I am mostly looking for effort rather than perfection, but please do give it your best.
In the second part of the essay you will provide your own view on the topic. Again, donβt just state your view, but give me reasons for why this is your view. This is the part where you get to apply your own philosophical thought on the subject. Even if these limited subjects are not anything close to your heart and you do not think too much about them in your everyday life, this is now an opportunity for you to think in a purely academic sense, so give it a try! You are only required to write 4-6 pages (double spaced, 12 pt. font), however, make sure these pages are clear and concise. In the beginning of your textbook there are some tips on writing a good philosophy paper; read through it, and feel free to ask me any questions along the way. Also, you may use any format you wish (APA, MLA, etc.) but make sure you are consistent with it throughout the paper.
