My research question is, what role does gender play in the
diagnosis and treatment of mental health disorders, and how does this differ
between men and women? This is the third time I have changed my question and
idea. This interests me a lot and I wanted to research about this more because
I have struggled with mental health my whole life and so has my dad and
boyfriend. But my mental health differs a lot from theirs. I want to dig a
little more to figure out why that is and what makes it so different only
because we are different sexes.

Moments, Stories, People, Scenes. Women suffer more from
depression and anxiety whereas men have higher rates of substance abuse and
antisocial disorders. Men want fast so when it comes to treatments and getting
better, men either don’t get help at all or go for an easier program. Men typically
get angry or involve themselves in risky behavior. Women react more with
sadness and emotion in that way. I know for myself I tend to get sad and cry a
lot whereas my boyfriend either just shuts down and goes silent or gets angry.
I find it really interesting how different reactions are between genders.

The point I want to get across is that mental health
disorders affect so many people differently, in this instance women vs men, but
they both deserve the best treatment no matter their sexo treatment is the
exact same for everyone. Our brains are different.
