Your literature review should be a broad survey of the research on your problem. This can include causes, consequences, solutions, details about the stakeholders, or anything else relevant that will help you solve the problem when you write your final project.
*My problem* : 70% of my 6th grade students did not receive a passing grade in the Matheatics section on their Renaissance test. This is because they do not know their multiplication tables and have challenges answering problem-solving applications. I plan to solve this problem by finding strategies on multiplication knowledge and problem solving.
The review should be organized either chronologically (ie, in one decade, research focused on X, but the next, it focused on Y) or via trend or topic. Do not organize your review source by source.
Tips:
– Make sure that your essay has a clear introduction that introduces the subject of the essay, the main ideas, the purpose, and why it is important.
– Body paragraphs must have clear topic sentences that introduce the main idea of the paragraph, clear supporting ideas
* Literature reviews do not focus on the minutia of the research (it doesn’t matter how many people were surveyed unless you want to make a point about how different research does it) but broad ideas, general process (was the study done on rats once and people next?), and conclusions.
* Use few quotes
* Conclude with a paragraph that wraps up your ideas and points to the connection this paper makes to your research project
