) - Identify the ways in which each of your chosen examples typifies the common literary practices (conventions) of the discipline. Assess the features that clue you into the fact that it belongs to its discipline.
- Determine the context, purpose and audience of the writings and analyze how these account for the unique writerly choices in each example. Is the rhetorical situation common to all three of your examples or unique? How do you know the article belongs to this discipline? Make clear how the distinct rhetoric and style suits the purpose(s) or audience(s). How is the rhetoric appropriate for what the author attempts to achieve? Strive to assess why the specific rhetoric (word choice, style, tone, sentence structure, etc.) looks similar or different in each example.
- Make effective use of what we’ve learned from the readings by incorporating at least one reading-derived quote from the class materials that reinforces your argument(the two class materials could be chosen to quote are:

and several quotes carefully selected from each of your three articles (at a minimum, one direct quote from each of your articles). - Craft a theory of what the discipline values based on how it goes about its research, conventions and rhetorical style (this is your thesis) and use your research articles to support this theory of what the discipline values.
