All students are required to do an oral presentation. Choose a topic from the list for your presentation (or suggest one with my approval). Only one person can choose each topic. All students should have their topics approved by 1/22. You will need to research your topic through the internet or articles (from the library databases) or books from the library. You will be assigned a day for your presentation based on when the topic is most relevant to class discussion. One week before your presentation you need to submit to me for approval a minimum of 2 sources that you want to use. Wikipedia is not acceptable as a source. Better sources would end in .edu, .gov, or .org. The day of your presentation, you should have a handout/file of information to be posted to Blackboard to accompany your presentation (send it to me a minimum of 24 hours prior to class time in advance and I will post it to our Blackboard site). The handout should cover the main points and information that you learned about your topic. The presentation should last about 5-7 minutes, and you can also use visuals such as a BRIEF video or website or power point. (If you use a video, the majority of your presentation should be your discussion not your video.) After your presentation, you will send to me your note cards or written material that you read from. If using a Powerpoint, please email your Powerpoint to me. These notes should be in your own words, not simply a print out from an internet site. The warning against plagiarism applies to oral presentations as well as it does to written work. Include your sources in your slides or handout. Students will put responses to each presentation in the chat.
