This paper is for a Health Care Reform class. This paper’s project is titled Comparative Healthcare Delivery. Students will be assigned two nation’s healthcare delivery systems and will be asked to compare and contrast them.
The 2 nations I am assigned are Burundi and the Republic of Korea.
The paper will be broken into 2 parts:
Part 1:
Background on your two nations including population, and major cultural background pertinent to the establishment of the current healthcare system. Include the life expectancy of men and women and any ethnic groups within each nation. What type of healthcare system does each of your nations have? Be specific and apply the definitions from the book. Discussion on the adequacy of care, the percentage or number of people who are covered by healthcare in the country, which portions of the population are not covered (i.e. race/ethnicity, gender, SES disparities in delivery), the efficiency of delivery, how the system is funded (including the percentage of GDP spent on healthcare) and the role of healthcare providers including at least two examples. The project should also include a population pyramid for each nation. They show the distribution by age and sex. It helps show the past, present, and future of the nation’s population distribution.
Part 2:
Healthcare expenditures.
Discussion on long-term healthcare must be included using home and community based care, nursing homes and other pertinent levels of care. Also, a discussion of the population distribution of the country. The final section should discuss the two biggest public health challenges in each nation and any initiatives seeking to help.

Papers should be 8-10 pages long excluding references. There should be a minimum of 5 sources per nation in this paper. This paper requires the use of primary sources such as books and journal articles. Please minimize the use of advocacy organizations information as it may introduce bias. We will use APA style internal citations and references and an abstract.
