The review should be typed in MS Word (not Apple “pages”) using Times New Roman (preferred), Tahoma, Helvetica or Arial,12 pt font and double spaced with 1 inch margins on all sides.
The review should be at least 5 full pages of content to earn a 100 . A “full page” means at least 3/4 of the last page.
After composing and carefully editing, revising, checking and double-checking it, you will submit an electronic copy of your paper into turnitin.com to check for originality (plagiarism). The details on how to do that appear below.
This course has a reserve section at the library on our campus so you can check out books, or you can pick your own book and ask me to approve it. However, first check the reserve list because your book is probably on it (unless it was published very recently).
I will grade based on thoughtful discussion, legibility, clarity of thought and critical thinking as well as length of summary and length of analysis, so don’t give me 5 pages of highly refined (but not plagiarized) summary and a paragraph of poorly written analysis. Remember, Turnitin is an “originality” (plagiarism) detector! I expect close to equal summary and analysis. The analysis can be your personal reflection on the book content, what you liked/didn’t like, if and how it gave you a different perspective, and/or how it related to what you already knew or learned this semester about the topic. Follow the guidelines and instructions below when submitting your assignment. Read it through completely (maybe more than once) before submitting.
