up most of your research proposal, so it is important that you give this assignment the time it deserves.
Your literature review should be 8–10 double spaced pages (based on the formatting guidelines for our
class). You need at least 12 total sources, although I would recommend not limiting yourself to this. At
least ten of these sources need to be peer–reviewed, academic sources.
When you structure your literature review, try to think of common themes or subtopics. Your literature
review should not simply be a summary of each source. In your literature review, your job is to tell a
story – how does the current literature connect with your research question, what has already been
done, and what gaps exist in the literature? Think of your sources working together to flesh out the
story of your topic. Chapters 13 and 14 of your text should be useful in helping you think about how to
write a good literature review. I also encourage you to refer to the example literature reviews uploaded
to Canvas to get some ideas as to how you can organize your own literature review.
