This activity supports you to integrate your learning throughout module 3. In getting ready to create this assignment, you will need to have completed all the required readings and reviewed the course materials provided in Modules 1, 2, and 3.
Instructions for Creating Integrated Assignment Module 3:
1) Review the life story or stories featured in your selected documentary from Module 1.
2) Decide which individual or individuals in your documentary you will focus on for your integrated assignment post.
3) Review the course materials related to relationship building, assessment, intervention, and evaluation.
4) Create a letter to the editor of Transformative Social Work, the Faculty of Social Wok, University of Clagary’s academic journal. (https://journalhosting.ucalgary.ca/index.php/tsw/about/submissions).
Transformative Social Work considers publishing as a pathway to transform societies and respond to human dynamics in a changing environment. The profession of social work urgently needs to transform social work research, practice and policy to meet local and global challenges associated with climate change and environmental degradation, social and health inequities, workplace issues, Indigenous reconciliation, and pressing social issues related to poverty and sustainable development. The journal offers a publishing space to consider ‘transforming social work’ through a critical and proactive social agenda, that considers equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonization. The journal aims to advance theoretical understanding, interrogate policy, and inform practice, and welcomes submissions from all areas of social work.
Your letter should be no more than 500 words and address the following:
- Assesses the key issues facing the individual or individuals in the documentary through a lens of diversity among populations
- Offer some key strategies for relationship building, assessment, and intervention (what needs to happen on micro/mezzo/macro levels to support these individuals)
- Propose how these key social work strategies could be evaluated (i.e. how would we know things are changing? What is social work’s role in these changes? Consider micro/mezzo/macro levels of practice)
- Include APA 7th citations for three pieces of course materials (lectures, readings, videos, etc.)

5) Submit your letter to the Module 3 Dropbox: Module 3 – Integrated Module Assessment by March 22 at 11:59PM MST.
6) Distill your letter down into a single mock social media post (FB, IG, TikTok, Twitter – your choice!) that advocates for the issues identified in your letter to the editor analysis. Follow the requirements for your chosen platform (ex: Twitter, 280 characters). Any images or videos you include must be your original creations. Post a link/upload to your mock social media post to the same dropbox that you submitted your letter by March 22nd at 11:59pm.
7) Share your mock social media post on the following discussion board to share with your peers: Social media post. You are encouraged to interact with each other and provide thoughts on your social media posts!
