Hello! I’m an ICU & ER nurse. I have about three years of nursing experience, and the following bullet point are the instructions for the requirements of my university’s letter of intent for their psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (MSN) program. I prefer the writer helping me with the admission essay to be in the nursing field as well. Throughout my time at the ICU and ER, I have seen and witnessed multiple occassions in which patients have suffered, or their medical health has worsen because of unaddressed mental health issues, and lack thereof access to mental health resources or simply because some providers have not prioritized patients’ mental health needs or even implemented a treatment in these patients’ treatment plans during hospitalization visits. As an ICU/ER nurse, I would like to take advantage of graduate studies opportunities and become a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner to better advocate and help patients in need of mental health resources.

Letter of intent that addresses the professional goals and motivations of the applicant as well as a nursing experience that has shaped or influenced their practice. Applicants should also explain why they chose the particular specialty; for example, why are you interested in primary care versus acute care? Or, why are you interested in family medicine (birth through geriatrics) versus adult-gerontology (adolescence through geriatrics)?
