Module 1 Evolution,
Population Genetics, Speciation, and Systematics Assessment Presentation Option

For this assessment, you
will apply what you learned during this module to explain population genetics
as if you were teaching the concept to a group of high school students.  T

You should choose either
this assessment or another module 1 assessment version. You should not complete
more than one. For this assessment, you will apply what you learned during this
module to explain the concepts as if you were teaching the concept to a group
of high school students.  This presentation should include a slide show
using your preferred presentation program (PowerPoint, Google Slides, Prezi,
etc.) that will be uploaded here as either a url or as a complete file. Please
see the syllabus for instructions on how to download a free copy of Microsoft
Office and how you can record slides using PowerPoint.



Every slide needs to have a relevant image for the topic. The connection
between the image and the slide should be expressly discussed in the
presentation (i.e. this image shows ____ and it connects to the topic because
____). Students will only receive credit for the image one time; that is, each
slide should have a different image for all the other slides and the same image
should not be used twice. 

The slides should not
have too many words on them. A maximum of 20 words per slide is a good guide.
Excessive words on the slide are both distracting and, recently, have been an
indicator of AI generative content. Under no circumstances should entire paragraphs
be put on any given slide. 

There must be audio of
you presenting the slides. That is, in addition to seeing the slides, your
voice needs to be heard. This could be accomplished by hitting
“record” in PowerPoint and submitting the saved raw .pptx file after
giving the presentation or creating a link to a video on YouTube or other
streaming service. Without audio, your presentation will receive a 0.

As a reminder, any
assignment (including this presentation) that is found to have included content
generative by ChatGPT or other generative AI platforms will receive a 0 with no
chance to redo the assignment. These module presentations are a significant
portion of your grade and could result in the loss of an entire letter grade
for the course if you are found to have used generative AI.

Importantly, the topics
must be addresses in the correct context (for example, when discussing
punctuated equilibrium, it should be about the evolutionary concept and not the
chemistry concept).

You will complete a presentation demonstrating your knowledge of
the topics covered. You need all the information required in the rubric of the
assignment, including a title page, script, relevant image on each slide,
reference page, and voice over.

The file can be submitted as a raw presentation file (preferably
PowerPoint) or a video (.mp4) or a video link (YouTube or other service)
