Essay Overview: A
literature review is essentially an account of previous research and published
material within a field of study. A literature review features descriptions of
publications, summaries of a publication’s main points, discussion of gaps in
research, and an evaluation of that publication’s contribution to the topic. A
literature review is most commonly found in the social sciences. For this
essay, you will begin by choosing a branch of the social sciences that
interests you (sociology, psychology, anthropology, etc.). Next, you will find
a specific topic or argument within that branch of the social sciences to
research. You will then gather scholarly research that clarify and explain the
arguments surrounding the topic. After gaining approval of topic through a
research proposal, you will compile an annotated bibliography which contains at
least ten peer-reviewed sources on your subject, sources you will use in your
literature review. Finally, you will write a literature review that integrates at
least eight academic sources from the research you’ve done that determines the
current status of the topic and the surrounding arguments, and suggests a
direction for further research on the topic.
Audience: Your writing is
to inform an audience in the discipline about the current research available
and the discussion of your chosen topic.
Research
and Citations: You will narrow your topic through
brainstorming and pre-writing. You will then begin preliminary research and
write a research proposal to be approved by instructor. You will gather a
minimum of ten scholarly,
peer-reviewed sources and compile those sources into an annotated bibliography.
Finally, you will write the literature review which incorporates eight of your
chosen sources.
Development/Length:
This is a research-intensive assignment with many
components. You will not be able to write a cohesive, unified, fully-developed
paper in a few pages. A well-formulated paper of this caliber should be at
least 7-8 pages.
Format:
This paper and its components will be written in APA
format, inclusive of title page, References page, and in-text citations.
I have included a list of references to use. It is a literature review on the impact of childhood trauma and different parenting styles and child outcomes of them. Please have a title page and reference page(These are not included in the length of the paper the body needs to be 8 pages) It all needs to be in APA format.
