Hint: if you compare what the regular population of Ancient Greece believed (as described by Eliade) and what the ancients Greek philosophers thought about the same matters, you will notice a difference. The regular population was content with believing in multiple gods (that is polytheism: poly=multiple, theism=gods), but philosophers of Ancient Greece had a fundamentally different approach. In order to write you essay, ask yourself why such difference between the two. What reasons do you think the Pre-Socratics had to adopt a different perspective? How the transition from a polytheistic society to a philosophy seeks the truth about the Universe was possible?
