Discuss how public trust between physician and society is maintained in “The Use of Force.” Regarding relationships between physician and society, refer to Charon, “Narrative Medicine: A Model for Empathy, Reflection, Profession, and Trust”).

I will attach my prior work below, and share the feedback i got as well (i got a 75): Your intro paragraph builds a strong connection between Charon and Williams. I would encourage you to be careful with using “you” and “we” as this is your interpretation of the text. Your thesis statement could be stronger by articulating more of an argument and being more focused on a specific aspect of the physician-society relationship. Try thinking about a literary technique that Williams uses to present this relationship.

In your topic sentences, use the first one to establish the concept from Charon and how you are employing it in your paper. The topic sentences should be thought of as a Discussion Posting for that paragraph and indicate precisely what the paragraph concerns through its connection to the Williams text.

Each body paragraph needs to have at least one quote, the first body paragraph needs to quote Charon’s work at least once, and then the rest need to quote Campo mostly.

Formatting: • 1500-word paper (not including the Works Cited page) • 12 pt. font, Times New Roman
• Double spaced
• At the end of your introductory paragraph, state the thesis you are proving.
• MLA 9th ed Works Cited page
• Pages numbered

Required Components
Introductory Paragraph: Use the introduction to explain what your thesis has to do with
the primary text.
First Body Paragraph: In your topic sentence, identify a keyword from your thesis
statement. This is the place to discuss concepts your paper takes up: for example, metaphor
or Narrative Medicine. The first body paragraph should explain the terms of and any debates
or controversies around your thesis statement.
For the rest of your body paragraphs, be sure to introduce a subtopic in relation to a
keyword in your thesis statement. After the first body paragraph, it might be best to discuss
only one aspect in each paragraph. Work from your experience writing the discussion
postings. Avoid writing paragraphs that are longer than a page. Provide a meaningful
transition between paragraphs as you mount the related components of your thesis.
2
Body Paragraph Structure (except for first body paragraph—directly after the Introduction):
• 1st sentence: introduce your subtopic in relationship to a keyword from the thesis
statement.
• 2nd sentence: explain the subtopic’s relevance to a thesis statement keyword.
• Approximately 3-sentences textual/critical evidence and interpretation
• Last 1-2 sentences: explain how the subtopic helps to prove or expand your
thesis statement.
• Do not end a paragraph with a quote.
Subtopics
1. Remember to include at least one of the keywords from your thesis statement in
your topic sentence (first sentence of each paragraph).
2. When choosing subtopics, ask yourself how the subtopic helps you discuss the
thesis statement. Ask this question for each subtopic.
3. The next few sentences in the paragraph should provide and interpret the textual
evidence you select, and the last couple of sentences of the paragraph should
continue to explain how this expands your argument.
Conclusion
• Summary of the paper’s argument reminds the reader of the thesis.
• Astutely draws out important implications of the argument.
• Provides a strong sense of an ending.
• Does not end with a quote.
