A portfolio/cv of materials that documents growing employability profile in the media industry.

To write a digital portfolio of material (up to 2,000 words) that documents your growing employability potential. You may include headings if they assist your organisation of the report and its structure. 


The structure of your portfolio should be as follows: 


  • 1. Introduction – identify your chosen sector / professional role (content creator/influencer) within the media and creative industries you are interested in and describe the media landscape within which it exists. (200 words) 


  • 2. Outline the organisational structure of the role you want to pursue placing due consideration on what the role is and how it fits within your personal aspirations. Demonstrate through examples an understanding of whether the role fits within a freelance, agency or inhouse structure. Use relevant case studies of those currently working in the industry to evidence your work. (400 words)


  • 3. Draw parallels between what you have learned and Cultures unit (see attachment).  Outline the sector, field or industry you hope to enter and what makes it interesting to you. You should aim to draw on language from the attachments. (300 words)


  • 4. Using the CAF: Creative Attribute Framework (see attachment) reflect on your own interests and creative skills and the development of your personal brand. Evidence your findings through exploring industry-based experiences either through temporary employment, volunteering, internships, freelancing and relevant university experiences to identify strategies for improving personal and professional opportunities. (have done internships with social media platforms and have university experiences of holding events and exhibitions) (300)


  • 5. Use the CAF to create a ‘Future Career Path’, include a diagnostics report of your skills- assessment and targets.  This should include how you see yourself fitting within the work environment and what strategies you will need to respond to the pressures of work, this might include how you will navigate working unsociable hours, or the uncertaintly of hourly paid contracts as well as a continued connection with Careers and Employability after you graduate to support you. (300)


  • 6. Create a development placement action plan by exploring the CAF and Careers and Employability. Include career and enterprise opportunities from our chosen sector/job role and evidence your research by creating an audit of current skills matched against employer needs. (300)


  • 7. Your conclusion should include personal reflections on your current employment status, future goals and aspirations. Include applications for creative media placements that you have identified either as paid or work experience. (200)
