Grant Proposal for Homeless Individuals seeking temporary housing and life skills training classes

Idea-A potential project that I would seek funding for would be for a Re-Entry program for individuals and families. The program would provide resources for individuals and families like temporary housing, access to substance abuse counselors, daycare for the children, job training classes, etc. There will be about 15-20 people on staff. The residents starting at 15 years old will be able to partake in a financial literacy course. The residents will have a curfew. The residents will have to be off the campus by 9am. They have to have to be productive with their time in the program. If they do not want to leave campus, they will be required to attend any 2-3 classes provided by the program. They will be required to be back on the campus by 9pm, unless they have a valid reason for being late.

Needs- My proposed project will address the need of temporary housing, literacy classes, financial literacy classes. There are many homeless individuals and families who seek available resources to assist them with getting back on their feet. The increase of rent is causing families to fall behind because their pay will remain the same. If families were to lose their home due to rent increase, the children in the home may be removed or they will have to find a shelter.

Target population-The target group for my proposed project will be the homeless population. The project will focus on providing temporary shelter for the community as well as providing resources. The residents will be able engage in activities like financial literacy courses and a reentry program.

Response-Depending on your area, you may want to narrow “homeless population” by age, neighborhood, or stage — like first homeless episode, chronically homeless, etc. Narrowing the population would help develop the resources you provide. I like that you have an idea of additional services — financial literacy, reentry — and a more specific idea of your client would help determine what additional needs your residents might share
