1. Introduction

Each student is required to write ONE term essay, which accounts for 40% of the total assessment of the course. Students need to demonstrate their abilities to integrate theory and practice. Students can apply what they have learnt in this course and other courses. This essay reflects students’ learning outcomes of the entire course and facilitates the integration of knowledge in a systematic manner. In so doing, students may be able to develop their own concepts and theories on resource management for tourism under different scenarios.
3. Requirements and assessment
This essay will be assessed on its content, clarity, applicability, consistency in logic, evidence of reading and hard work as well as presentation. It is understandable that students may not be able to develop mathematical or quantitative models at this stage. The development of conceptual frameworks is also preferable since it could be tested in the field at a later stage. Students could apply what they have learnt in lectures, case studies and field trips when constructing this term essay.

• Introduction: Should be clear and precise, provide background information on a specifique area(s) or site(s), and identify problems to tackle.
• Main body: (1) Review of previous studies and models developed in the area, related
concepts, theories and principles; (2) Present the proposed model with diagrams and/or formula; (3) describe and explain major components and internal or external relationships; and (4) discuss its applicability, limitations, possible testing and problems.

f) The number of words shall be 2,500 in English or 2,000 in Chinese, with an allowance of +/- 10%,
excluding references and footnotes.
g) APA 7th referencing style, Times New Roman, 12 point font, 1.5 line spacing, 2.5 cm margins
