Each student needs to submit a PowerPoint presentation to conduct the pitch. Students must read the following assignment instructions.
Content Requirements:
The shark tank pitch should briefly outline the problem, solution, target market(s), competitive positioning/competitive advantage, and offering(s) of your business venture and summarizes your business model. The purpose of this presentation is to succinctly convince your audience that your business is viable and could operate in the real world. Therefore, your presentation should be comprised of the following sections:
- Problem: What is the gap in the market that you are filling? What is the painful problem you are resolving?
- Solution: How does your business solve your identified problem? Why is your solution needed? Why is now the best time to introduce this solution to the market? How does your product serve the underserved and diverse population?
- Market: What customers/target markets benefit most from this solution? Describe the markets where you aim to sell your offering and provide details of who your target customers and their behavior/reasons for wanting to buy the product/service.
- Offering/Revenue: What products/services will you sell? Do you have a prototype or is this an idea? How are you going to make money?
- Competition: Who are your rivals? What is your stiffest competition? How will you beat them?
Presentation Rubrics: (50 pts)
- Comprehensiveness (15pts): presentation includes all the components required as per content guidelines;
- Depth of analysis and justification (15pts): presentation includes detailed justification using research and academic references for their decisions to support their decisions;
- Organization (10pts): identifiable structure is presented in a purposeful, interesting, and effective sequence;
- Vocal delivery (10pts): vocal delivery is varied and dynamic; speech rate, volume, and tone enhance interest. As a result, your power point presentation must include voice-over narrations in about 10 minutes.
Format Requirement (Up to 20% deduction if not followed): Citation and reference must follow APA style.
- A business idea in another industry/discipline (e.g., healthcare, computer science, biology) other than tourism or hospitality will result in a zero on the assignment.
