Discussion Topic: DISCUSSION: Inferences from Two SamplesDISCUSSION: Inferences from Two Samples

Each week students should post a response to the Discussion Topic.
Students should also comment on at least two (2) other classmate’s responses each week.
Please remember to use your “Netiquette” and treat others with respect at all times.

In Chapter 9 we will continue our use of Hypothesis Testing, but instead of making a hypothesis regarding the parameters in a single population like the mean, we will make a hypothesis about the relationship between the parameters in two populations.  An example would be that instead of saying the mean ACT score of PRCC students is more than 20, we might say that the mean ACT score of PRCC students is greater than the mean ACT score of JCJC students.

The process of performing the hypothesis test is almost identical.  The only thing that will really change is the calculation of the test statistic.  Since you are allowed to use the formula sheet for all of your work and your tests, I expect that this chapter will not prove to be too difficult for you.

I would like for you to respond to the following prompt: “Describe a situation where it is more important to compare the parameters of two populations than it is to know the parameter for a single population.”

Please don’t forget to post  your response, and reply to at least two of your classmates responses to earn full credit for this assignment.
