Use MLA manuscript format; guidelines are posted in the upper part of Moodle.
Include a Works Cited in your paper and list your primary source, (either the Gutenberg Project or The Norton Anthology of African American Literature, vol. I), in it. This entry should conform to MLA documentation style. If you paraphrase or quote a passage from the text, cite the page number in parentheses placed after the paraphrase or quote.
Secondary sources are not required. However, if you use any sources, make sure they are reliable and credit them with in-text citations and include them in your Works Cited.
Caveat: Sparknotes, Lit Chart, and similar online resources: These are not reliable sources; avoid them. Carefully read your chosen text; come up with your own insights and ideas.
