Jonathan Coe’s Political Trilogy: A Reflection on the English Political System (1970-2017)

The purpose of this
dissertation is to investigate Jonathan Coe’s political trilogy, which consists
of “The Rotters’ Club,” “The Closed Circle,” and
“Middle England,” within the framework of the development of the
English political system from 1970 to 2017. The purpose of this research is to
provide a comprehensive analysis of the novels, with a particular emphasis on
how they depict the sociopolitical landscape of England during this time
period, as well as the influence that political decisions have on individual
lives and how they affect society as a whole. In order to provide context for
the novels, the methodology entails conducting a qualitative analysis of the
novels as well as secondary sources, which may include historical texts and
critical essays.
