The overall topic is metabolic changes during the Fed,
Fasted and Starvation States. There is a ppt slide set on Bb that
addresses this topic; you should refer to this and make use of the information
(DO NOT just copy the words on the slides). Articles 4 and 6 are relevant
and are specified for some of your questions. Following up on the citations in
the article is a good way to find the info you need for your presentation.
You are teaching this topic, both in a basic way and
in using information about intermittent fasting as a way of presenting the
immediate and longer lasting metabolic changes it may produce. Weight loss
regimens produce states of semi-starvation, and sometimes short-term fasts, so
they are very relevant to this topic. You can apply this information in
understanding what is happening to people on weight-loss programs.
There will be 3 groups. Each member of the group will have 5
min (time it!) to do their part of
the group presentation; each person will present TWO informational slides. At
least one slide must be a graph or flow chart; make it yourself. What you write
on the slides is a way of keeping track of what you want to say. You may not
read your presentation from a paper or cards.
Each person addresses a different question on the group’s
list. The group must coordinate the presentations so that they make sense as a
whole and there is NO DUPLICATION of each other’s material. At the end of the
group’s lecture, there will be questions from the class.
The total number of points is 15; 12 pt are for the
individual’s presentation and 3 pt are for the group’s work in having a
coordinated, clear lecture, within the time limits.

raise blood levels of Ketones? Defend your answer by explaining the series of
metabolic steps.
