Students will identify 2 research or scholarly articles on the same topic as the article presented to the class (Does Perferred Muisc improve reading comphresion). Selected studies must be peer-reviewed and published in reputable, scholarly outlets (see Guidelines 1.1 in Chapter 1 of Durwin & Reese-Weber (2021) and readings from Williams (2020)). They will then submit a 3 to 4-page paper, not including references, in which they synthesize and integrate the findings from the various articles with the findings from the main research article they presented to the class. It is important to note that the research findings may not all align. Some articles included may contradict findings of the main article.
The focus of the paper should be on classroom implications — So what does all of this research mean for us as teachers? What are concrete, actionable classroom practices that align with the research findings? Suggested headings are: Introduction, Summary of Research Findings, and Classroom Implications. Proper APA citations and formatting is required.
