Final Project Part 2: Find connections between Feldmeier textbook and Catholic Mass

Goal: Research/Apply what you have seen in the Mass to what we’ve been reading about.

Identify at least 4 places in our textbook* (or see note below) that offer insights as to why or how the Catholic Mass you attended is what it is today. This should be addressing 4 different parts of the Mass. This could include the building structure, the creeds and Scripture spoken during the Mass, things you learned about the Parish from the bulletin or their website, etc. This is not word BINGO (ex: they say “Holy Spirit” and Holy Spirit is mentioned on pg. 25).

Fake Example: On page 3, Feldmeier discusses that in 1654 the Council of Pineapple decided that the Trinity would be described as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In the Mass we attended at St. Suzanne’s, part of the Creed that people said together used the exact phrase “in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.” (Don’t use this example for one of your 4 connections as there are many other ways the history of Catholicism shows up in the Mass you witnessed this semester)

Tip: Chapters 6-13 will have the most resources, use the book index to help you find topics, and check back in discussion boards.

Submission: You will submit this as a document or PDF. Each of the 4 citations should have the specific page number (if you use the electronic version, you will need to specify by chapter and section heading). This can be submitted as a document with 4 bullet points but you should use full sentences and correct grammar.

Total: 10 pts

8pts given for quality connections between textbook and Mass you attended.

2 pts given for using proper grammar and clear citations to find it in the book.

Church Attended: St Paul the Apostle church in New York
