Reference
Make specific reference to your actual numbers (don’t just say life expectancy
has ‘gone up’ or ‘is higher.’
• Look for major patterns (don’t discuss every little ‘up and down’ you see).
• Include a reference (suggest APA style) or bibliography (suggest Chicago style)
which includes your data source as well as any other documents you may have
used.
• If you use an idea from another source, even if you re-write in your own
words, you must include a parenthetic reference (e.g., Hu, 2021).
• If you use the actual words from another source, you must indent and single
space these words, and cite the author, date and page number from which
you have taken the words
Making your own Chart and Table :
• Make your own chart (don’t just use what you download from Statistics
Canada).
• Give each chart a number (e.g., Figure 1) and a clear title (e.g., Life
Expectancy at Birth in Montreal compared to Nunavut, and refer to each
chart (e.g., Figure 1) as you discuss its in your content.
• Units for all variables should be noted (e.g., C$).
• Indicate the data source at the bottom of the table.
