I failed my essay and only got 46%. My tutor allows me to resubmit by editing it. Please see attached the feedback form and the essay.
Advice and targets for a resubmission:
- Engage more deeply with more relevant literature and where possible primary sources rather than secondary ones so that you really understand the topic (e.g. Alexander, Mercer)
- Reduce the number of aspects you wish to write about – a narrower focus will offer opportunity to demonstrate greater depth of knowledge and understanding
- Aim to offer clear, detailed definitions of the key ideas – this will help to exemplify your own understanding as well as supporting comprehension for the reader
- Use your knowledge from reading to accurately and objectively analyse practice – think about the how and the why of what is happening
- Substantiate all claims with reference to source material or use more tentative language to suggest or consider and revise Harvard referencing expectations
- Ensure that theoretical models are introduced with a contextual summary. (Imagine that your assessor doesn’t know anything!)
- Pay close attention to your assignment title, ensure that you refer to it regularly throughout your writing process to ensure you are on course to provide a focused and relevant answer.
