Create a minimum 25-slide Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentation covering the following Juvenile Delinquency topics (Parts 1 and 2).
Part 1: Gender and Delinquency
- How does gender affect delinquency? Substantively discuss the pathways to delinquency for male and female juvenile delinquents. Explain in detail how these pathways differ. Provide at least 3 criminological theories explaining male and female delinquency.
- What are some current explanations for gender differences as they relate to delinquency?
- Are delinquent females treated differently than delinquent males by members of the juvenile justice system (police, courts, and corrections)? Explain.
- Are they treated unfairly? Explain.
- Do they benefit from being female? Why or why not?
- What is the feminist theory of delinquency? Explain.
Part 2: Juvenile Diversion, Intervention, and/or Prevention programs
Identify and compare two juvenile diversion, intervention, and/or prevention programs operating in your city or state. Based on the two juvenile programs (diversion, intervention, and/or prevention) you selected which operate in San Antonio or Texas, discuss the following questions.
- What are the programs’ major goals, objectives, and core beliefs?
- Who are the key participants in these programs?
- What services and/or treatment modalities do they provide juveniles? Be specific. What is the significance of these services and their impact on juvenile justice involved youth? Research and analyze the services and/or treatment modalities and summarize your findings. Are these services or treatment modalities cosidered to be evidence-based? Explain.
- Which of the two programs is more effective at reducing juvenile crime? Why? (Include Outcome information – research statistics, recidivism information regarding what makes this program most effective. Are they considered an evidence-based program? Explain this in detail.)
Format your presentation consistent with APA guidelines (use citations wherever you integrate outside research into your presentation and include a reference slide that is formatted per APA guidelines).
Use a minimum of eight outside sources (look for peer reviewed/academic sources of research) to support your findings/conclusions/recommendations. General information from program websites is permissible.
Each slide of content must have info in the slide’s Speaker Notes section. This is where the detailed info that you would discuss during the live presentation would go.
