Partner Assignment! This is a partner assignment and must be completed with your partner(s).
Background. The goal of this assignment is to help Learning & Development professionals, specifically trainers, be more inclusive when they deliver training programs. As an aside, this assignment was inspired by a training I attended this summer. At least one training participant had a hearing impairment. As such, a professional signer was present during the training. My experiences this summer led me to be curious about additional techniques that can be utilized to support inclusive training programs.
Deliverable. The deliverable for this assignment will include a PPT Training Deck with ~12 slides. Additionally, EACH slide must include SPEAKER NOTES. Yes! That includes the cover slide, where you will share an overview of the presentation.
Key Assumptions – PPT Training Deck.
Target Audience. Your target audience for this training will be Training professionals. You will be building a PPT Training Deck to teach Training professionals specific techniques they can use to be more inclusive of training participants with disabilities.
Company. For this training audience – you’ll need to select a specific company. The company must be where you or your partner work. You can use Rutgers University as your company if you are not working. Our Project Company is Rutgers University so answers should be based on Rutgers.
Original Content. You are not allowed to repurpose an existing presentation (including the examples). Instead, the slides you present must be original content based on your research and ideas.
Assignment. Your slides must include the following information:
· Cover Slide. The cover slide must identify (1) the company and (2) the title of the training program.
o The cover slide does not count towards the slide limit. However, you must include speaker notes for this slide. The speaker notes should consist of an introduction to the training session.
· (Slide 2) Learning Outcomes. You must include a slide that EXPLAINS 2-3 learning outcomes/goals for your training presentation.
o That is, what do you want the audience to know or be able to do (skills/behaviors) after they listen to your presentation?
· (Slides 3 – 4) Disability One – Employees with Hearing Impairments.
o Describe two challenges employees with hearing impairments might experience during training sessions. Use examples to support the challenges discussed in the presentation.
o Explain two techniques the training professionals can use to create an inclusive learning environment for employees with hearing impairments. Notably, the strategies recommended must be based on research/best practices. All citations will appear on a separate slide at the end of the deck.
· (Slide(s) 13 – 14) Optional
o If there are any other steps you believe organizations should take to ensure employees with disabilities have a positive experience in learning environments, add your suggestions here.
