Instructions: ‘Please describe 2 settings in which clinical mental health counselors work that most appeal to you and two settings in which they do not appeal to you. Describe the population served at each setting, and the range of services offered, (including the model of therapy). describe why these settings appeal to you and do not appeal to you.
Private Practice: This setting appeals to me because
I have run my own consulting business with offerings such as mindfulness,
nutrition, sound healing, and overall wellness.
Telehealth/coaching: I really like the idea of being
able to work from anywhere and see anyone. In my practice, my clients lived all
over the U.S, not having to fuss with restrictions regarding licensure.
Career Counseling: This setting appeals to me because
I have had dozens of ‘jobs’ and wish I had the tools to experiment with what I liked,
enjoyed and was naturally ‘good’ at to create more of a linear path as a young
adult. Individuals will seek me out and ask advice regarding career goals and
opportunities and I feel that is a ‘sign’ this is also another opportunity in
the ‘career’ department.
Hospital: This setting does not appeal to me because
of the vibrational differences in the setting. It could possibly be a pattern
that has been ingrained in me from a young age, but I hear the word hospital
and immediately think of the ‘sick and dying’. I have never been very fond of
hospital settings and do not see myself working in this space.
School: This setting does not appeal to me, I myself
did not really enjoy school as a young girl, and do not see myself serving in
this capacity.
