Prior to every class, you will submit a writing assignment that is based on the material from the chapter assigned for discussion that day in class. Each writing assignment will be divided into three parts:
PART 1: IMPORTANT CONCEPTS (24 Points)
After reading both chapters, describe the most important topics/concepts for YOU from each chapter (i.e., you must have 6 total important concepts in order to receive full credit. Each topic/concept should be a minimum of one paragraph in length (4 points per topic/concept). See the schedule for the required number of concepts per chapter.
PART 2: APPLICATION OF KEY CONCEPTS (18 Points)
Write a separate paragraph below each concept/topic where you describe how you might apply the important topics/concepts from each chapter to your own professional activities (3 points per topic/concept).
PART 3: DIAGNOSTIC QUESTIONS (8 Points)
Each week, students will generate 8 diagnostic questions (from the readings) that are designed to help their professional practice and understanding of psychological disorders. See the schedule for the required number of questions per chapter.
Psychological Disorder Chapters
Chapters assigned in: Assessment in cognitive therapy
After reading each professional chapter in the Assessment in Cognitive Therapy book, students will generate questions related about the professional practice of intakes/assessments (1 point per question).
Chapter assigned in: Handbook for assessment and treatment planning for psychological disorders
After reading each cahpter in this book, students will generate questions related to assessments or assessment practices discussed in each chapter (1 point per question).
Additional Writing Assignment Guidelines
- Writing assignments must be typed and submitted in standard form (i.e., 1โ page margins, Times New Roman, 12-point Font, single-spaced).
- Writing assignments must be submitted via Blackboard before the deadline.
- If you miss a class, you can still turn in your writing assignments, but assignments must be submitted on time.
