TASK
- Write a confidential memo to the president (from a party of your choice) that proposes changes to the American health system (this may involve medical care, but doesn’t have to).
- Your party has a large majority in both houses of Congress.
- Please paraphrase and cite sources rather than quoting them directly.
- Each paper section should have a works cited section in which you cite the materials that you used from inside and outside the course. Feel free to use and cite Wikipedia.
- You are not required to utilize the suggestions made by your classmates in their critiques.
SECTION ONE: Problems (about 500 words)
- 1. Describe the problem that you will address. It’s OK If you change your mind later.
- 2. In a few sentences, say how you will address the problem.
- Some ideas from previous classes (but feel free to come up with your own): health-related social policies, the public option, single-payer, national health service, increase ACA subsidies, find a way to get reluctant states to expand Medicaid, insurance coverage for undocumented people, universal coverage, cost control, prevention, ACA repeal.
