By mid-term, based on your reading responses, we will have a one-on-one meeting to discuss and select a topic for you to explore in a 6-12-page paper. This may be a research project or a more theoretical analysis, but in either case, you will be expected to use outside sources to support your analysis and respond to existing writing on Shakespeare. I strongly recommend that you select a topic based on one of the plays we will read during the class. Grading will be based on the clarity of your argument, your effective use (and citation) of sources (you should have at least 3-5 peer-reviewed scholarly works that you engage with at some level here), and the quality of your prose. A full rubric will be posted by the time that we have our initial consultations.
